SME AI Fest: Partners Unite to Mainstream AI for SMEs

Kuala Lumpur, 6 August 2025 – At SME AI Fest 2025, one message rose above the rest: AI is no longer optional Kuala Lumpur, 6 August 2025 – At SME AI Fest 2025, one theme stood out as strongly as the message that “AI is no longer optional”; that is, “collaboration is essential”.

The Fest, co-organised by the Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Malaysia (SAMENTA), the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), and TRINITY42 Digital, was designed to do more than showcase technology. It was built to connect the dots between stakeholders; government, academia, corporates, and SMEs, to drive adoption collectively.

A Collective Effort

The significance of collaboration was underscored by the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Asia Pacific University (APU). These agreements were framed as more than symbolic gestures. They signalled a shared intent to strengthen AI readiness by bridging academic research with real-world business applications.

Representatives from both universities expressed optimism about nurturing talent pipelines that SMEs can access. “It’s about ensuring SMEs don’t just hear about AI but also gain access to the skills and graduates who can help them implement it,” said one university delegate.

Observers also noted the range of organisations represented, from global technology providers to SME-focused enablers. Discussions highlighted how corporates could support SMEs with scalable tools, while agencies like MPC emphasised national productivity goals tied to digitalisation.

In this web of stakeholders, TRINITY42 Digital played a visible role as a connector, ensuring that conversations translated into tangible opportunities. “The Fest wasn’t about any one party,” said an organiser. “It was about weaving an ecosystem where SMEs could see themselves supported from multiple sides.”

Why Collaboration Matters

For many SMEs, the path to AI adoption can feel overwhelming. Costs, lack of expertise, and uncertainty about impact are common barriers. Collaboration helps to spread these challenges across an ecosystem — providing SMEs with not just information but also allies.

“Knowing that academia, corporates, and agencies are aligned makes adoption less intimidating,” remarked one participant. “We don’t feel like we’re doing this alone.”

If SME AI Fest 2025 made one thing clear, it is that AI transformation for SMEs will not happen in isolation. It will be built through partnerships that share knowledge, resources, and vision.

By curating and facilitating these connections, TRINITY42 Digital and T42 Academy underscored their role as enablers, not just of training and awareness, but of an ecosystem where collaboration becomes the true engine of progress.
